JOJ Dakar 2026 : Djirèye Clotilde Coly prend le dossier en main et ...
In an interview with Le Soleil, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Djirèye Clotilde Coly, sought to reassure the public about the progress of preparations for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG). After a recent meeting with the Organizing Committee (COJOJ), she stated that "the preparation is under control" and that Senegal is "on the right track" to host this historic event scheduled to begin on October 31, 2026, and last for thirteen days.
The Youth Olympic Games elevated to the status of absolute priority
According to the minister, all aspects related to the organization have been reviewed, including infrastructure, logistics, security, medical services, mobilization, and operational testing. Having just taken over as head of the Sports Department, she asserts that she has made the Youth Olympic Games one of her top priorities, believing that Senegal "has no other choice but to succeed" at this unprecedented event for the country and the continent.
National mobilization and inclusion
Khady Diène Gaye's successor, however, highlighted several challenges: successfully mobilizing the public, anticipating potential difficulties, ensuring the inclusion of all Senegalese, from Dakar to Ziguinchor, including Matam and Saint-Louis, and providing a memorable experience for athletes and visitors. The interviewee, speaking to the national daily newspaper, also announced that she will personally visit the sites to assess the progress of the infrastructure.
