JOJ Dakar 2026 : Les États-Unis saluent « une bonne avancée » des préparatifs à moins de 6 mois des Jeux
Sports diplomacy is in full swing in Dakar as the world's largest youth event approaches. A delegation from the United States Embassy, led by Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Jennifer Davis Paguada, was received in audience by Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, President of the Organizing Committee for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (COJOJ). This high-level meeting provided an opportunity to present the American delegation with "the status of preparations for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games" and highlighted "good progress in preparations, less than six (6) months before the global event, which will be held for the first time on the African continent."
The discussions, which were particularly warm and open, highlighted the strong cooperation between the sports bodies of the two countries. The exchanges provided "an opportunity to review the Olympic partnership between the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee," but also to discuss "prospects for collaboration between the Organizing Committee for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games and the Organizing Committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games," thus creating a strategic link between the next two major events on the Olympic calendar.
Following the meeting, the U.S. chargé d'affaires expressed her country's enthusiasm for this continental challenge. She stated: "The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games represent both a wonderful opportunity and a significant challenge for Senegal and for Africa. The United States is very proud to send a delegation of young American athletes to participate in this wonderful celebration of global youth."
For his part, the president of the COJOJ, Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, expressed "the honor of Senegal and the Senegalese Olympic Movement to contribute to strengthening the links between Peoples through sport and youth."
