Le jeu et les joueurs : Koulibaly et les Lions assurent l’essentiel avant Kinshasa

Without showing any signs of success, the Senegal Lions dominated Sudan 2-0. Kalidou Koulibaly opened the scoring in the first quarter of an hour (14th minute), showing his teammates the way to victory. The Lions captain, who was celebrating his tenth anniversary with the national team, then set up Pape Matar Sarr for the second goal (41st minute). Without shining, Senegal secured the essentials before their crucial trip to Kinshasa against DR Congo.

Edouard Mendy: 5/10

A quiet match for the Senegalese goalkeeper, who was barely challenged by a harmless Sudanese attack. He did, however, suffer a few scares with his kicking, which remains his weak point.

Krëpin Diatta: 7/10

Solid defensively on his right flank, he delivered a fine performance. It was he who set up the first goal for Koulibaly with a perfectly executed free kick (14th minute). Always well-positioned, the Monegasque actively participated in his team's attacks. A successful match.

Moussa Niakhaté: 6/10

Sober and focused, he was rarely troubled by the less-than-dangerous Sudanese attackers. Always effective in his defensive interventions, he delivered a decent performance. He was replaced by Abdoulaye Seck (59th), who showed presence, particularly in aerial duels.

Kalidou Koulibaly: 8/10

On his 10th anniversary with the national team, the Lions captain delivered a perfect performance. A goal scorer (14th minute) and an assist for Pape Matar Sarr (41st minute), he was also flawless defensively. Man of the Match.

El Hadji Malick Diouf: 6/10

Very active on his left side, he made numerous offensive moves. Author of an excellent cross for Pape Matar Sarr, who hit the bar (49th), he almost scored on a pass from Sadio Mané (51st). Dynamic but still perfectible, especially in the final move.

Pape Gueye: 7/10

Positioned in front of the defense, he dominated the proceedings in midfield. Imposing in duels and effective in restarting, he delivered a clean performance. With his fine left-footed technique and power, he was invaluable in possession. Even if he was less fortunate in his ball strikes, he delivered a solid performance.

Pape Matar Sarr: 7/10

Very involved in the game, he rewarded his activity with a nice goal (41st) after a pass from Koulibaly. He could have scored the third goal from a cross from Hadji Malick Diouf, but his shot crashed against the crossbar. Replaced by Pathé Ciss (72nd), who tried to bring rigor and power to the midfield.

Habib Diarra: 5/10

In his role as playmaker, he tried to take responsibility but lacked precision in his offensive actions. Replaced by Lamine Camara (59th), more lively but not decisive in the final move.

Iliman Ndiaye: 6/10

Quiet before the break, he showed more initiative in the second half thanks to his fine technique. He tried to combine but without any real danger for the opposing defense. Replaced by Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly (82nd).

Boulaye Dia: 6/10

Playing up front, he often dropped back to participate in the game and combined with Sadio Mané. Generous in his pressing, he hampered the Sudanese defense. He was replaced by Nicolas Jackson (82nd minute), who failed to capitalize on his opportunities.

Sadio Mané: 5/10

Less impactful than usual, he had a quiet first half. In the second, he provided a nice pass to El Hadji Malick Diouf, who missed the target. Despite a lot of fighting spirit, but without being decisive, Pape Thiaw preferred to leave him on the pitch to avoid a reaction from the crowd.
