Ligue 1: Paris quasiment sacré, suspense pour l'Europe
Four days after qualifying for the Champions League final, PSG have virtually secured the French league title after their victory against Brest (1-0) on Sunday at the Parc des Princes, while the race for Europe remains undecided after the penultimate matchday.
Heavily revamped to give key players a rest after Wednesday's crazy night on Bayern Munich's pitch, Paris, who needed a victory to secure their 14th national crown, had all sorts of trouble winning but finally managed to make the difference after the late entry of their stars.
Désiré Doué became the hero of the evening with a magnificent low shot and finally delivered the Parisians, who now have a six-point lead over their runner-up Lens and can calmly travel to the Bollaert stadium on Wednesday to challenge the Northerners without much pressure.
PSG is not yet mathematically crowned champion but with two matches to play (Lens, Paris FC) and a largely favorable goal difference (+44 against +29 for Lens), it would take an improbable scenario to prevent them from remaining king of L1.
Paris can therefore calmly begin its preparation for its big event, the Champions League final against Arsenal, on May 31 in Budapest.

While the suspense for the title is over, uncertainty prevails regarding the European places and we will have to wait until the last day, May 17, to know the verdict.
By conceding defeat in Toulouse (2-1), Lyon have forfeited their chance to secure direct qualification for the Champions League. Worse still for OL, they have dropped to 4th place, overtaken by Lille (3rd).
Lille are now in a strong position, one point ahead of Lyon, after securing a valuable victory at the Stade Louis-II (1-0).
But Rennes, 5th two points off the podium after dominating Paris FC at home (2-1), have not yet said goodbye to the C1 either.
Marseille also woke up at the perfect time, and their 1-0 victory in Le Havre gives them hope of at least qualifying for the Europa League, climbing back up to 6th place. After another tense week following their humiliating 3-0 defeat in Nantes, the Marseille players found the extra bit of spirit to try and salvage what they could in a nightmarish season.
As if to symbolize it, it was English striker Mason Greenwood, heavily criticized for his behavior in recent weeks, who gave his team a crucial victory with a penalty, his 16th league goal.
Trailing Rennes by three points, OM can secure a place in the C3 if they beat the Bretons next Sunday at the Vélodrome, in a match that will be a true final for Europe.
At the bottom of the table, Metz and Nantes are relegated but everything is still possible for the allocation of the 16th place, that of the play-off team.
Auxerre (15th) indeed relinquished that position to Nice, who were beaten 2-1 at the Stade de l'Abbé-Deschamps, but the two clubs are tied on points (31). This promises a nail-biting final night of Ligue 1.
Nice, who will host Metz, start with a clear advantage, as the Burgundians have to travel to Lille.
