Ligue des champions CAF : Mamelodi Sundowns prend une bonne option, l’Espérance domine Al Ahly, le FAR et Pyramids se neutralisent
The first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals, which began on Friday, concluded on Sunday.
In South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns took a significant step towards qualification with a resounding 3-0 victory over Stade Malien. The South Africans thus head into the second leg with a comfortable advantage.
In the clash between two continental giants, Espérance Sportive de Tunis prevailed over Al Ahly SC (1-0). A valuable victory, but insufficient to secure their position completely, as the return leg in Cairo promises to be explosive.
In Morocco, FAR Rabat and Pyramids FC played to a 1-1 draw. This result is rather favorable to the Egyptian club, the defending champions, who will have the advantage of playing the return leg at home.
Finally, RS Berkane, without their Senegalese striker Paul Valère Bassene, were held to a draw at home by Al Hilal Omdurman (1-1), where his compatriots El Hadji Madické Kane and Ousmane Diouf play.
The return matches are scheduled for next weekend and are expected to be decisive in the race to the semi-finals.
