Liverpool : Arne Slot s’en va
Arne Slot's time as Liverpool manager has come to an end. On Saturday, the Reds officially announced the departure of the Dutchman, who arrived in 2024 despite being under contract until 2027. According to Fabrizio Romano, Spaniard Andoni Iraola, currently at Bournemouth, appears to be the leading candidate to take over the team.
In a statement, the club's management explained that they had made this decision after careful consideration. They praised Slot's work, particularly his Premier League title win in his first season, while acknowledging that a change was necessary to allow the club to continue its progress.
After two seasons in charge of Liverpool, the Dutch manager is leaving Anfield. Despite a promising start, his tenure was marked by a series of injuries, results deemed insufficient, and a particularly difficult period for the club, mourning the tragic death of Diogo Jota.
Despite investing nearly €500 million in the 2025 summer transfer window, the team's performances have not met management's expectations. The board has therefore opted to begin a new cycle earlier than planned, while reaffirming their respect for the work done by Arne Slot during his time at Liverpool.
