Los Angeles 2028 : Saly Sarr porte les espoirs olympiques du Sénégal

Since the historic feat of Amadou Dia Ba, silver medalist at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988, Senegalese athletics has been waiting for a new figure capable of raising the national colours high on the Olympic stage.

Today, this hope has a name: Saly Sarr, bronze medalist at the World Indoor Championships in Torun.

During the official ceremony for the presentation of her world medal and the launch of her project for the 2028 Summer Olympics on Tuesday, the Senegalese athlete clearly stated her ambitions. "This medal represents the fruit of my work and my perseverance. I am determined to continue my journey to raise the colors of my country even higher," she declared emotionally.

Proud to represent Senegal on the international stage, Saly Sarr has never hidden her attachment to the national jersey. "It has always been a pleasure to wear the colors of Senegal. It is an honor to win an international medal for my country," she insisted.

But beyond this recognition, the champion is already looking to the future. Her schedule is packed and ambitious. She wants to defend her title at the African Championships in May in Ghana, shine at the World Championships scheduled for China in 2027, and above all, win an Olympic medal in 2028. "It's a goal I've set for myself, and one I've promised the President of the Republic," she stated with determination.

However, behind this ambition lies a more complex reality. According to her agent, Manirou Dembélé, preparing at the highest level requires significant resources. "Saly has a coach to pay in France, a mental coach, accommodation, as well as essential training camps to perform in the best conditions. She needs support and partnerships to achieve this Olympic goal," he explained.

The budget required to complete this preparation is estimated at 110 million CFA francs. A significant investment, but considered essential to allow Saly Sarr to compete with the world's elite.

En attendant qu'on ait une politique sportive digne de ce nom, voici un cas bien précis où la caisse noire aura une utilité.
