The Senegalese Wrestling Federation (FSL) is warning against the proliferation of events abroad using the image and name of Senegalese wrestling without its authorization. In a circular published on May 11, the federation reiterates that it is the sole authority empowered to officially regulate and promote the sport.

The document reports that for several months, the Senegalese Wrestling Federation (FSL) has observed an increase in activities, competitions, and events organized abroad by individuals or private entities without a license or federal accreditation. According to the statement, these organizers are commercially exploiting the image and reputation of Senegalese wrestling without paying royalties.

More concerning for the federation, the report indicates that some of these events involve unlicensed individuals, untrained in the rules and values of the sport, and without recognized technical or medical supervision. "This undermines the integrity of the sport, the safety of participants, and the image and credibility of Senegalese wrestling," emphasizes the document signed by President Ibrahima Sène.

The organization reiterates that it holds exclusive rights to authorize competitions, exhibitions, and commercial or promotional activities related to Senegalese wrestling. "Any structure or individual wishing to organize an international event, use the name, recruit Senegalese wrestlers, or broadcast commercial content related to the sport must now contact the federation beforehand," the statement reads.

Licensed wrestlers who participate in these unauthorized events are subject to sanctions ranging from a warning to the permanent revocation of their license. The federation also reserves the right to initiate administrative, sporting, or legal proceedings against any abusive or illegal exploitation.
