Lutte : la grosse altercation entre Gris Bordeaux et le représentant de la ministre des Sports (vidéo)
Nerves were strained between Gris Bordeaux and the Director of Physical and Sports Activities (DAPS) at the Ministry of Sports, Gilbert Mbengue, on Saturday, during the meeting to adopt the draft texts and internal regulations of the future wrestling federation. As president of the National Association of Wrestlers of Senegal, the Fassois, while agreeing in principle, proclaimed his opposition to the forced transition, believing that the authorities want to "impose" the pace on his colleagues.
Taking the floor, Gilbert Mbengue indicated that Gris Bordeaux had gone off topic, and that the discussion was no longer about the relevance of the project. When the Fassois tried to return the charge, the DAPS got angry: "You don't have the right to interrupt me when I'm speaking." An injunction to which Gris replied: "Who are you to interrupt people and refuse to be reciprocated?"
When Mbengue threatened to remove him from the room if he did not discuss the subject of the meeting, the "3rd Tiger" retorted: "We must speak to people with lucidity. I speak on behalf of all wrestlers. And I have the right to tell you that wrestling is not ready to go to a federation. These texts you are talking about are obsolete."
"A real mess ensued," reports L'Observateur, which reported the incident in its Monday edition. "Ultimately, the president of the National Association of Wrestlers of Senegal was expelled from the hall. But he vented his bile on the microphones held out to him, persisting and asserting that the authorities want to dance faster than the music with this plan to switch from a CNG to a federation."
The newspaper specifies that the clash took place in the presence, in particular, of the president of the CNG, Malick Ngom and Seydina Diagne of the CNOSS.
