Manchester United: Comment l’offre de 100 millions d’euros à Kalidou Koulibaly est tombé à l’eau
History could have been very different for Kalidou Koulibaly. In the summer of 2018, at the peak of his powers with Napoli, the Senegalese defender came very close to a record-breaking transfer to Manchester United. A colossal offer of €100 million was made by the English club, determined to secure the services of the Neapolitan stalwart. But the deal never materialized.
In an interview with Zack NaniTV, picked up by Wiwsport, the Lions' captain looked back on this significant episode in his career.
“I had an offer from Manchester United at the time. 100 million, the club refused. Carlo Ancelotti told me: ‘If you leave, I’ll resign.’ He had just arrived, but he presented me with a moral dilemma. I just thought I had done my time in Naples. I had given everything. It might have been time for a new challenge. I could have had the contract of my life, a historic transfer. But Napoli refused. That’s how it is, that’s football,” Koulibaly confided.
Having arrived in Naples from Genk in 2014, Koulibaly established himself as one of the best central defenders in Europe, a symbol of the Azzurri's solidity. Manchester United's interest was therefore not surprising, but the firmness of president Aurelio De Laurentiis sealed the player's fate for several more seasons.
Under the orders of Carlo Ancelotti, newly appointed at the time, Koulibaly remained a pillar of the Napoli team before joining Chelsea in 2022, then Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, where he plays today.

S'il m'était donné de définir une tension politique je ne prendrai sûrement pas le Sénégal comme exemple.
Nous avons ici une opposition qui se sent outré par le choix d'un peuple.
Et qui est décidé à le Lui faire payer, mais très cher.
Quitte à Lui ôter la liberté de penser. Une opposition qui insulte un peuple pour son choix au lieu de l'amadouer pour obtenir son agrément.
Une opposition révoltée, hypocondriaque!.
Une opposition à qui on joue le film d'une conquête du pouvoir mais qui prend la salle pour le stade des Martyrs lors de Sénégal-RDC. Fole de rage !
Comment se fier à des personnes qui n'arrivent pas à maîtriser leur déception, à accepter et respecter le choix d'un peuple? Et la vertu dans tout ça, les valeurs?Ou bien le choix du peuple est tellement absurde que vous avez perdu espoir? Vous ne croyez plus à la politique, dans sa noblesse?
