Maroc : Après la CAN féminine, la CAF contrainte de reporter la CAN de futsal 2026
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is once again under fire after the postponement of the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, initially scheduled for April.
According to an internal memo revealed by Sport News Africa, the competition has been rescheduled from October 12 to 21 in Morocco, a change of schedule decided at the last minute.
This late postponement comes as several national teams were already engaged in their preparations, creating significant logistical and sporting disruption. In a context where federations, particularly in futsal, have limited resources, this decision has sparked incomprehension and frustration. Some had already committed substantial financial resources to be ready on time, making this delay particularly detrimental.
This latest episode is reminiscent of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, also postponed under similar circumstances. This repetition fuels questions about the management of the African competition calendar and the CAF's ability to plan ahead for its major tournaments.
