Transfer news: Sambou Soumano officially signs with Stade de Reims

Stade de Reims continues its summer transfer activity with the arrival of Sambou Soumano. A free agent since the end of his time with FC Lorient, the Senegalese striker has signed a four-year contract with the Champagne club, where he will play until June 2030.

At 25, the striker, who came through the youth system at Dakar's Youth Elite Foot academy, is taking another step in his career. Reims is counting on his experience in French football and his ability to trouble opposing defenses to bolster its attacking options before the start of the new season.

During the last Ligue 1 season, Soumano played 31 matches for Lorient, scoring four goals and providing two assists. These performances convinced the Reims management to offer him a new challenge.

Having arrived in France in 2019 at Pau FC, the Senegalese international has gradually climbed the ranks. After a notable spell with Voltigeurs de Châteaubriant, he joined FC Lorient, where he then went on several loan spells at Eupen, Rodez and Quevilly-Rouen Métropole in order to accumulate playing time.

It was while playing for Quevilly-Rouen that the striker particularly distinguished himself in Ligue 2, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in 36 appearances. Returning to Lorient, he then contributed to the Merlus' promotion back to Ligue 1 thanks to a prolific season, concluding with 14 goals and three assists in 32 matches, before making his debut in the French top flight during the 2025-2026 season.

By joining Stade de Reims, the Tambacounda native is discovering the seventh professional club of his career. The Senegalese player now hopes to fulfill his potential and establish himself as a key player in Reims' attack for the seasons to come.
