The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has chosen the Lions' base camp for the 2026 World Cup. Senegal, drawn in Group I alongside France, Norway, and Iraq, will be based in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Les Échos, which broke the news, reports that Pape Thiaw's men will stay at the Heldrich Hotel.
"Training sessions will take place at the sports facilities of Rutgers University, whose infrastructure will be made available to the national team. A very calm setting, located an hour's drive from the MetLife Stadium where Senegal will play its first two matches," notes the daily newspaper.
The newspaper reports that a delegation from the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), composed of President Abdoulaye Fall, Secretary General Abdoulaye Sow, and national coach Pape Thiaw, visited the team's training camp and met with Mayor Jim Cahill last Thursday. The mayor expressed his commitment to providing the Lions with the best possible conditions in New Brunswick, making it their "second home."
Before settling in New Jersey, the Senegalese team will play a friendly match against the United States on May 31 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
