Mondial 2026 : fédéraux sénégalais privés de visa, l’ambassade des États-Unis explique
Three officials from the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) have had their visa applications for the United States, in preparation for the World Cup (June 11-July 19), rejected. They are the fourth vice-president, Amadou Kane, and Moussa Mbaye and Modou Fall, who are members of the Executive Committee (Comex). Their applications were submitted last Tuesday by the governing body of football, along with those of other federation officials and FSF guests.
This decision comes four months after the Trump administration decided to revoke tourist visas for Senegalese and Ivorian nationals traveling to the World Cup, citing overstays by citizens of the countries in question. When contacted by L'Observateur, the US Embassy in Dakar indicated that exceptions exist. "Any athlete or member of a sports team, including coaches and necessary support staff, traveling for the World Cup or any other major sporting event is exempt from this suspension," the diplomatic mission stated.
However, she added, falling into the category of exceptions is not enough: "We do not issue any visas until an applicant has demonstrated, to the satisfaction of the consular officer, that they are eligible under US law."
