Mondial 2026 : Jusqu'à 6,6 millions FCFA pour voir la finale
As the fourth and final phase of ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup began this Wednesday, prices for the final have reached historic highs. The most expensive seat is now priced at nearly $11,000, which is approximately 6,600,000 FCFA. This "last-minute" sales phase is open to everyone without a lottery and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Sales will continue until the end of the competition, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with tickets being released on a rolling basis for some matches taking place on the same day.
While ticket prices were already considered excessive, fans were stunned to discover that prices for the final had increased significantly. According to the Daily Mail, prices now reach up to $10,990, or approximately 6,594,000 FCFA.
This represents a 38% increase compared to the first sales phase last September, when the most expensive ticket cost $6,730, or approximately 4,038,000 FCFA. Other categories have not escaped this inflation, with category 2 tickets jumping 32% to reach $7,380, or approximately 4,428,000 FCFA, while category 3 is priced at $5,785, or approximately 3,471,000 FCFA.
By comparison, during the 2022 World Cup final between France and Argentina, the most expensive ticket cost the equivalent of $1,604, or approximately 962,400 FCFA. In addition to this price increase, a technical glitch marred the launch of this sales phase, with many buyers being redirected to a restricted section reserved for official supporters' groups instead of the general sales portal. This situation is fueling fan discontent, and FIFA is now being accused of disregarding its promises of affordable prices. The European supporters' organization has even announced that it has filed a complaint with the European Commission, denouncing purchasing procedures deemed opaque and unfair.
