«Ndam-Li ou Le Sacre» : film de la victoire du Sénégal à la CAN 2021, Mame Fatou Ndoye transforme un Lion en journaliste

In a documentary to be screened on December 10th, "Ndam-Li or The Coronation," Mame Fatou Ndoye reenacts Senegal's victory at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. In an interview published this Thursday in L'Observateur, the sports journalist reveals that a current professional footballer conducted the interviews. This is Joseph Lopy (without a club since last July), who was part of Aliou Cissé's squad that triumphed in Cameroon three years ago.

Mame Fatou Ndoye explains that she met the Lion in question, who became her "friend," when he was playing for Diambars. "I suggested he act as a journalist, go and meet his teammates and have them tell the story. That's how we built this documentary," smiles the filmmaker.

The challenge was immense; it took three years to overcome. "It's a long-term project that involved a lot of travel," the journalist acknowledges. Especially since, she points out, Lopy "is an active player, facing a tight schedule." "The players only have three weeks of vacation," emphasizes Mame Fatou Ndoye. "But we were able to take advantage of the international breaks to conduct interviews. For example, we met up in Lens for the Senegal-Cameroon match to talk to some players and move the project forward."

Without judging her own work or revealing any footage from her documentary before its release, the journalist suggests that her work should immerse Senegalese people once again in the atmosphere of this historic victory. She says: "I tried testing it with some people close to me. I sent them the trailer and they told me: 'Ah, Mame, it evokes so many emotions.'"

See you on December 10th, ten days before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Morocco, December 21, 2025 - January 18, 2026). "We want every Senegalese person to have the chance to watch this feature film. There will be a broadcast on TV," promises Mame Fatou Ndoye.
