In Nice, a surprising administrative error continues to cause a stir. Having arrived in 2022 from Monaco, attacking midfielder Sofiane Diop is now… the highest-paid player at OGC Nice.

According to several sources, the Moroccan international of Senegalese origin earns approximately €350,000 per month, a significantly higher amount than his teammates. This unexpected situation stems not from a renegotiation or special status, but rather from an error during the finalization of his contract.

At the time of signing the agreement, the figures initially negotiated as gross were reportedly transcribed as net in the official document. As a result, the Côte d'Azur club committed to a much higher salary than anticipated, with an estimated additional cost of nearly 20%.

Despite this anomaly, the 25-year-old player is having a solid season in Ligue 1 with 7 goals in 26 appearances, partly justifying, on the field, a status that has become as unexpected as it is costly for the Nice management.
