Forced off with an injury during Galatasaray's home defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise on November 25th, Ismaïl Jakobs has still not resumed training with the Istanbul club. And the news is not reassuring for the Lions' left-back. According to his coach, Okan Buruk, his participation in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations is highly unlikely.
After Galatasaray's victory on Friday against Chérif Ndiaye's Samsunspor (3-2), Okan Buruk clearly suggested that Jakobs should not be able to represent Senegal at the AFCON in Morocco which starts on December 21.
"I think Ismail should not play in the AFCON. He is not fit to play. He should stay with us to complete his recovery," said the Turkish coach, comments widely reported by the local press.
This statement is unlikely to go unnoticed by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). As a reminder, during the October international break, they had already exerted significant pressure on Galatasaray to secure the player's release.
Initially called up for the matches against South Sudan and Mauritania, Ismaïl Jakobs was ultimately ruled out. The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) then arranged for him to come to Dakar to have his injury examined closely.

Nous lui souhaitons vraiment prompt rétablissement. Mais Ngor faye est polyvalent et costaud.
@Defenseur,
