Premier League, 37e journée : Manchester City tenu en échec, Arsenal sacré champion
The suspense is over in the Premier League. Thanks to Manchester City's draw at Bournemouth (1-1) on matchday 37, Arsenal have officially been crowned champions of England.
With their backs against the wall before this match, the Citizens couldn't afford any mistakes. Trailing Arsenal by five points with only one game remaining, Pep Guardiola's men had to win to keep their title hopes alive.
But City came up against a tenacious and perfectly organized Bournemouth team.
The home side opened the scoring in the 39th minute through Elye Wahi Kroupi, plunging Manchester City into doubt.
Despite a slight dominance, the defending champions long lacked the creativity and intensity to turn the game around.
It took until added time for Erling Haaland to snatch the equalizer in the 90th+5th minute.
However, the goal wasn't enough to prevent the Gunners from claiming the title. With 82 points, Arsenal finally returned to the top of English football after an interminable wait. The London club secured their first league title since the legendary "Invincibles" season of 2004 under Arsène Wenger.
This title rewards the excellent season achieved by Mikel Arteta's men. After several years of rebuilding, Arsenal have finally returned to glory in the Premier League.
