With just months to go until the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, the Senegalese Lionesses continue their preparation with mixed results. Four days after a narrow 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso, the Senegalese side met the Burkinabè again for a second friendly full of twists and turns.
In an open and lively encounter, the two teams shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw, the result of a true offensive spectacle.
For Senegal, Korka Fall stood out by scoring a hat-trick, confirming her efficiency in front of goal and her key role in driving the Lionesses' attack.
On the other side, Burkina Faso put in a worthy performance. Adama Congo opened the scoring in just the 1st minute, before Millogo equalized from the penalty spot in the 79th minute. Kouanda then kept her team in the match by scoring the third goal in the 84th minute.
Despite promising attacking sequences, the Lionesses revealed some defensive frailties. With less than three months until the kick-off of the Women's AFCON, scheduled in Morocco from July 25 to August 16, 2026, this draw raises questions about the team's ability to become more solid at the back.
The technical staff will need to quickly address these shortcomings if they hope to see Senegal play a leading role in this major continental tournament.
