Qualifications CAN féminine : Les Lionnes à Abidjan pour l’exploit

The Senegalese women's national team has a lot at stake this Tuesday in Abidjan. After being held to a 0-0 draw by Ivory Coast last Friday at the Lat Dior stadium in Thiès, Mame Moussa Cissé's Lionesses are traveling to play the return leg of the second and final round of qualifying for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Lacking inspiration offensively in the first leg last Friday at the Lat Dior Stadium, the Senegalese will have to show a completely different side if they hope to secure their place in the final phase. Sloppy in their final moves and sometimes imprecise in their restarts, they know they will have to raise their game to surprise the Elephants on home soil.

The task promises to be daunting, but far from impossible. Senegal can rely on an experienced squad and individuals capable of making a difference at any moment. Mama Diop, Nguenar Ndiaye, and Hapsatou Malado Diallo will be particularly expected to lead the team to a historic feat at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium.

The Lionesses, determined to write a new page in their history, will have to combine defensive rigor and offensive efficiency to bring down a Côte d'Ivoire team supported by its home crowd. The stakes are a victory that will qualify for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, and confirm that Senegal is truly one of the great nations of African women's football.
