However, the Germans got off to a poor start, conceding a goal to Arda Güler in the very first minute. Bayern responded quickly thanks to Pavlovic, who equalized in the 6th minute. The game then became a thriller. Arda Güler restored Real Madrid's lead with a superb free kick in the 29th minute.

Dominant in possession, Bayern Munich once again equalized through their English striker Harry Kane (38th minute). Vincent Kompany's men thought they had done the hard part, but they hadn't reckoned with Real Madrid's determination, who regained the lead just before halftime thanks to Kylian Mbappé (42nd minute). The two teams went into the break with this spectacular 2-3 scoreline.

In the second half, the pace remained high, but neither team could break the deadlock. The turning point came in the 87th minute with Eduardo Camavinga's dismissal for accumulating yellow cards. Shortly after, Luis Díaz equalized for Bayern (89th minute), before Michael Olise scored the winning goal (4-3).

After a match full of twists and turns, Bayern Munich secured their qualification for the semi-finals.

In the other quarter-final, Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon played to a 0-0 draw. Having won the first leg in Portugal 1-0, Arsenal secured their place in the semi-finals.
