Real Madrid : une pétition pour le départ de Mbappé atteint 45 millions de signatures, l'ombre d'une manipulation
Since Tuesday, a petition demanding Kylian Mbappé's departure from Real Madrid has spread like wildfire on social media. In just a few days, it has reportedly surpassed 45 million signatures, a figure deemed completely unrealistic by many internet users and observers.
Already criticized in recent weeks for his performances and recurring injuries, the French striker has found himself at the center of a new controversy. The cause: a few days of rest in Sardinia granted by the Madrid club. This getaway has greatly angered some Real Madrid fans, at a time when the team is going through a difficult period.
On social media, messages calling for the departure of the French national team captain have multiplied, particularly under the slogan "Mbappé Out." It is in this tense climate that an online petition has emerged, its signature count skyrocketing at a suspiciously rapid pace.
The credibility of this mobilization is, however, being seriously questioned. On X, an influential internet user, Gio CR7, claims to have analyzed the site's operation and discovered that the counter was artificially increasing. According to him, the system is programmed to automatically inflate the number of signatures in order to simulate a massive popular movement.
The platform's reliability is also problematic. Unlike traditional petition sites, no registration or email address verification is required. Simply opening multiple private browsing windows would allow users to sign repeatedly and bypass restrictions.
This vulnerability facilitates the use of "bots," automated programs capable of generating thousands of votes in seconds. Cybersecurity specialist Clément Domingo even claimed to have managed to vote around a hundred times in less than a second, demonstrating the complete lack of oversight.
In response to this hostile campaign, another website called "Mbappé In" was launched to support the French international. It already boasted over 37 million votes in favor of keeping the former Paris Saint-Germain player. The initiative was deliberately ironic, as the website's description specifies that the votes are also "not real" and that the whole thing is just an "illusion."
