Recours du Sénégal contre la CAF : Les annonces officielles du Tribunal arbitral du Sport (TAS)
It is now official. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has just announced that it has received the appeal lodged by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
"The appeal concerns a decision taken by CAF on March 17, 2026 declaring that the national team of Senegal lost the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco 2025 by forfeit and awarding the victory to the national team of Morocco with a score of 3-0," the CAS specifies in its press release consulted by Seneweb on the website of the world arbitration body of Sport.
What Senegal is asking for in its appeal
And what the Senegalese side is requesting is that "the CAF's decision be overturned and the FSF be declared the winner of the AFCON," reports the CAS. "The FSF also requests the immediate suspension of the deadline for filing the appeal brief until the full reasons for the CAF's decision are notified," adds the sports arbitration body.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has announced that an arbitration panel will be appointed to rule on the case, after which a procedural timetable will be established. It specifies that an appellant has twenty days to file a statement of appeal containing its legal arguments, after which the respondents have another twenty days to reply.
"At this stage of the procedure and given the request for suspension of the deadline made by the FSF, it is not yet possible to anticipate the deadlines of the procedure, nor to indicate when a hearing will be scheduled," the CAS states in its document.
