Sélection nationale: l’étrange choix du footballeur français Jordan Lefort qui a choisit la Mauritanie
French defender Jordan Lefort has decided to take a significant step in his international career. At 32, the Angers player has been called up to the Mauritanian national team for the first time, taking advantage of his dual nationality.

After his club's heavy defeat at RC Lens (5-1), the central defender reflected on the underlying reasons for his decision. A commitment that goes beyond mere sporting considerations.
“My wife is Mauritanian, and so is her whole family. We started the administrative procedures for our children, who were naturalized. I then followed the same process, which was successful. As soon as my passport was validated, I became eligible for selection and the coach summoned me,” he explained.
Beyond the administrative aspects, Jordan Lefort is particularly enthusiastic about discovering a new environment. "It's a great source of pride. I can't wait to join the team, meet my teammates and the staff, and experience the atmosphere surrounding the national team," he added.
The defender is thus preparing to make his debut for Mauritania in a prestigious friendly match against Argentina. The game is scheduled for March 27th at the legendary La Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires.
A baptism of fire of great magnitude for the new Lion of the Mourabitounes, who now hopes to establish himself permanently under his new colours.
