Sénégal vs Belgique : Abattu, Habib Diarra refuse de se réfugier derrière l'arbitrage
Deeply affected by Senegal's early elimination against Belgium in the World Cup round of 32, Habib Diarra made no secret of his profound disappointment after the match. The Lions' midfielder felt his team lacked discipline and failed to make the necessary collective effort to preserve their lead.
"It's very tough. We are really very disappointed, devastated. We were leading until four minutes from the end, but on the pitch, you have to sacrifice yourself. That's not what we did. We can only blame ourselves," the young international said with great candor and bitterness.
While the tension was palpable at the end of the match and some decisions may have caused a stir, Habib Diarra politely but firmly preferred to dismiss any easy excuses or controversy related to the refereeing body.
"I won't talk about the referee. I have nothing to say on that subject," he cut short, preferring to take responsibility for this end-of-match debacle with his teammates.
