Dominating possession, Senegal finally broke through Egypt's defense. Sadio Mané opened the scoring in the 78th minute with a clean strike that beat El Shenawy. Senegal certainly played their best match of this AFCON, even if the scoreline doesn't reflect their dominance. Here are the highs and lows.
The tops
El Hadji Malick Diouf
A masterclass performance. The Senegalese left-back, sometimes criticized for his defensive shortcomings, was impeccable tonight. Diouf completely neutralized Mohamed Salah throughout the match. The Egyptian right flank, often the Egyptians' strong point, was nonexistent against Senegal. In transitions, his direct passes broke through Egypt's tight defensive line.
Sadio Mané
He tried, tried again, and was finally rewarded. Alongside Iliman Ndiaye, Sadio Mané was incisive down the left flank. In the first half, his runs behind the defenders unsettled the Egyptian line. He then secured the victory for Senegal with a clean goal just minutes before the end of the match. He was named Man of the Match by CAF.
Mamadou Sarr
Brought on as a substitute in a semi-final match, replacing the captain, Mamadou Sarr didn't falter. The defender was solid and made some excellent interceptions. A successful debut, which bodes well for the final.
The flops
Habib Diarra
Already struggling against Mali, Habib Diarra had a completely off day. In the first half, the midfielder lost possession far too often in crucial areas of the pitch – eight times to be precise. In addition to poor ball control, misplaced passes, and ill-advised attacks, Diarra received an avoidable yellow card that ruled him out of the final. He was logically replaced at halftime by Lamine Camara.
Nicolas Jackson
Jackson struggled to connect with his teammates. He made good runs, but his lay-offs and passes were often inaccurate. The Bayern Munich forward also looked fragile in duels.

Yallah may Ngou dam Ngou nekk bene
