"S’il me voit, il a de l’urticaire", Nasri révèle que Deschamps a refusé de participer à un match caritatif parce qu’il était au casting

They'll never go on vacation together, that much is clear, but the tension seems to run even deeper. On the "Respect" podcast, hosted by rapper K-Mel, former leader of the group Alliance Ethnik, Samir Nasri revealed a striking anecdote to illustrate his strained relationship with Didier Deschamps. Since being left out of the squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, despite coming off a brilliant season with Manchester City, the former midfielder has maintained a frosty relationship with the French national team manager, who is preparing to lead his team in his final World Cup in the Americas.
Samir Nasri claims that Didier Deschamps simply refused to participate in a charity match benefiting Pascal Olmeta's association "Un sourire, un espoir pour la vie" (A Smile, a Hope for Life), which works to support sick children and their families, because of his presence in the matchday squad. The Marseille native, now a pundit for Canal+, explains that he was informed the day before the event by Pascal Olmeta, who tried to call him before leaving a very clear message: "I'm sorry to tell you this. Didier Deschamps said that if you came, he wouldn't play in the match."
"He will not emerge from this with his reputation enhanced."
Nasri then decided to withdraw to avoid creating awkwardness and embarrassing Olmeta: "Don't get on his bad side, he's the patron of your charity. He's the coach of the French national team, it looks good for you to have him. Don't worry, I'm not taking it badly. I'm not offended at all. Next time, if you need anything, I'll be there. Have a good game. Send a message that, even if he's not my friend, I wasn't going to talk to him. He could have played one half and I the second, we don't need to cross paths, because it's for charity."
"He won't come out of this looking good," the former Marseille and Arsenal player opined, before mocking Deschamps' desire to avoid him: "If he sees me, I think he'll break out in hives." After being left out of the 2014 World Cup squad, Anara Atanes, who was then the British partner of Samir Nasri, fresh from winning the Premier League title with Manchester City, posted a scathing message against the French national team coach on social media: "Fuck France and Deschamps. What a shitty manager."
A year later, the Skyblues midfielder himself called Didier Deschamps a "hypocrite" on L'Equipe TV in 2015. A barb to which the coach responded in a press conference: "He says what he wants. Apparently, he seems happier without the French national team. If someone who is an example of sincerity and frankness tells me something, I ask myself questions. That's not the case here. The French national team continues its life and rather well, too."
