Kalidou Koulibaly, défenseur de Al Hilal et capitaine des Lions du Sénégal
There's still uncertainty surrounding Kalidou Koulibaly's injury. The Al Hilal defender and captain of the Senegal national team missed his team's 1-0 victory against Damac in the Saudi Pro League yesterday. While the length of his absence is still unknown, with the World Cup just over a month away, his coach, Simone Inzaghi, hasn't provided any reassuring updates.
"Thirty years of experience in football and my eyes have never seen an injury comparable to Koulibaly's. It's very strange! A small collision between Kalidou Koulibaly and his teammate during training caused a subcutaneous hematoma in the affected area," said the former Inter Milan coach at a press conference.
However, the Saudi club confirmed that the Senegalese footballer will not undergo surgery. Tests conducted in Spain revealed that he required further treatment for his hamstring injury. Upon returning to Saudi Arabia, Kalidou Koulibaly completed his rehabilitation program at the Meena Clinic, located at the club's headquarters, Al Hilal announced.
