Suspicions of corruption at CAF: Motsepe supports Senegal's request and advocates "zero tolerance"

Asked about a possible opening of a corruption investigation mentioned by the Senegalese government and about his exchanges with the head of state, the president of CAF, Patrice Motsepe, pleaded in favor of transparency.

Without directly confirming the content of discussions with the Senegalese head of state Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Motsepe nevertheless showed his support for any initiative aimed at shedding light on possible illicit practices.

"I encourage any form of investigation coming from a government," he said.

The South African official also assured that the Confederation of African Football would not remain passive in the face of any proven cases. "Any form of corruption noted at CAF will be taken into account," he stated.

In a striking statement, Motsepe described corruption as "worse than cancer." He called for a "zero tolerance" policy in all sectors of life, far beyond the realm of football.

Fallait pas quil descende sur terre senegalaise. Il fallait lui informer que tant que le dossier est pendant au TAS le Sénégal ne peut pas le recevoir. Mais on dirait qu'il nya pas dintellectuel dans ce pays

Ce que je sais c'est que, féliciter le Sénégal qui ne tenait qu'à un bout de phrase la veille de sa victoire était pourtant plus simple que parcourir des km pour venir à Dakar or il n'avait jugé important de le faire. Ce type doit être éloigner des affaires de la caf
