Staffs des sélections nationales : conflits d’intérêts, opacité, profils douteux…, les «incohérences» de la Fédé de foot
Controversy is growing around the reorganization of the technical staff of the national teams, with the exception of the A team. In an interview given to L'Observateur, the former Technical Director of the Diambars Institute of Saly, Moussa Kamara, makes a severe indictment against the choices made by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), pointing to "inconsistencies" at several levels.
First grievance: the accumulation of roles. Kamara is surprised to see "many Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 coaches, already working at their clubs," being given national team coaching positions simultaneously. "You can't be a full-time club coach and at the same time want to take on a national team," he asserts, deeming this practice contrary to the demands of top-level football.
According to him, "a national team coach must be 100% dedicated to his mission," otherwise the scouting and monitoring work cannot be properly carried out. He also warns against "a risk of conflict of interest" and emphasizes that this model "does not exist in major footballing nations."
The source speaking to the newspaper from the Future Media Group also lamented the lack of transparency in the appointment process. "I think they disguised the criteria. They used vague criteria to appoint the coaches," he complained, denouncing decisions made "underhandedly."
The coach is concerned about seeing national football used as a "stepping stone or source of income" rather than as a performance-oriented project. He questions, in particular, the promotion of players "still in training" at the expense of experience, asserting that there is "no consistency" between the stated ambitions and the technical arrangements implemented.
Finally, Kamara points out glaring anomalies in the structuring of coaching staffs. He considers certain configurations "incomprehensible," citing the duo Serigne Saliou Dia and Boubacar Gadiaga as an example: "You can't take a Ligue 1 coach and appoint him assistant to a coach who isn't currently in charge. [...] The other guy, who doesn't have a club, is his master."
He also criticizes a form of haste among some newly appointed officials who are already publishing lists, such as those for the U17s: "It doesn't seem coherent to me. He needs to reshuffle the cards and go and supervise the youngsters instead of rushing into things."
For Moussa Kamara, this widespread "mess" proves that the organization put in place is not the right one and calls for a complete overhaul of the methods to preserve the credibility of Senegalese football.
