TP Mazembé : Marc Philippe Arona Diouf, le lion qui rugit au pays des Léopards

Impressive since winning the Best Goalkeeper award at the 2024 CHAN, Marc Philippe Arona Diouf has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Congolese league while playing for TP Mazembe. Between his high-level performances and European ambitions, the Senegalese goalkeeper is forging his path to the top.

Named best goalkeeper of the 2024 CHAN tournament, Marc Philippe Arona Diouf continues to live up to expectations month after month. His brilliant performance at the continental competition caught the eye of TP Mazembe's management, who promptly signed him. A decision that has now proven entirely justified.

Since joining TP Mazembe, the former US Gorée and Teungueth FC goalkeeper has established himself as a key player for the team. Taking advantage of Alioune Badara Faty's injury, he seized his opportunity to become a pillar of the Congolese club's system.

His performances speak for themselves. During the group stage of the championship, Marc Philippe Arona Diouf played 26 matches, recording 19 clean sheets. Even more impressively, the international goalkeeper distinguished himself offensively with two penalty goals and two assists. These are rare statistics for a goalkeeper, demonstrating his overall influence on the game.

Collectively, TP Mazembe finished top of Group A before starting the playoffs in the best possible way, with a 2-0 victory against their arch-rivals, AS Vita Club. This positive momentum confirms the dominance of the most decorated club in the Democratic Republic of Congo on the national stage.

Despite this success, the Rufisque native remains level-headed and displays high ambitions. "Things are going well for us. We finished first in the group and we've made a good start to the playoffs. TP Mazembe is a great club and the Congolese league is of a very high standard," he says.

Under contract for two years, with an option for an additional year, the 27-year-old goalkeeper makes no secret of his dream of playing in Europe. "Like all young African players, my ambition is to play for a big European club. This would also allow me to join the Senegalese national A team. I'm working towards that every day," he states with determination.

The objective is clear: to take a decisive step in his career and permanently join the Senegalese national team, with the 2026 World Cup in sight.

In a squad that already includes two other Senegalese players, Jean Barthelemy Diouf and Alioune Badara Faty, Marc Philippe Arona Diouf is now establishing himself as a leading figure in his position in the Congolese league. A rising star, determined to soon roar on European pitches.
