Week-end des Sénégalais de l’étranger : Sadio Mané brille avec Al Nassr, Bamba Dieng encore buteur, une première pour Antoine Mendy
The Senegalese internationals shone brightly on foreign pitches this weekend. Between Sadio Mané's brace for Al Nassr, Bamba Dieng's consistent performances in France, and Antoine Mendy's first Ligue 1 goal, the Lions once again made a strong impression, despite some disappointing results in England and elsewhere.
Five days after the friendly match against Gambia, the Senegalese footballers returned to their respective clubs. Having missed the March international break, Sadio Mané shone for Al Nassr. In France, Bamba Dieng found the back of the net once again. In England, Mamadou Sarr and Chelsea FC qualified for the FA Cup quarterfinals. However, El Hadji Malick Diouf and West Ham United were eliminated.
The overview of Senegalese players abroad begins with the French league, where Bamba Dieng once again distinguished himself. During the match between FC Lorient and Paris FC (1-1), part of the 28th round of fixtures, the Senegalese striker scored Lorient's goal in the 54th minute. Meanwhile, away to Strasbourg, OGC Nice, featuring Yehvann Diouf and Antoine Mendy, suffered a 3-1 defeat. Antoine Mendy scored his team's only goal, his first in Ligue 1.
At the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain, with Ibrahim Mbaye remaining on the bench, defeated Toulouse FC, featuring Pape Demba Diop (3-1). In the northern derby, Lille dominated RC Lens, with Abdallah Sima's striker watching the match from the bench (3-0).
At home, FC Metz, with Habib Diallo as captain, were held to a 0-0 draw by FC Nantes. In the day's marquee match, AS Monaco, with Lamine Camara in the starting lineup and Krépin Diatta coming on as a substitute in the 65th minute, defeated Habib Beye's Olympique de Marseille 2-1.
Le Havre AC, with its Senegalese contingent (Mory Diaw, Arouna Sangaté, Rassoul Ndiaye, and Issa Soumaré, all starters), were held to a 1-1 draw by AJ Auxerre. Struggling in the league, Olympique Lyonnais, with Moussa Niakhaté in their ranks, earned a point away at Angers SCO (0-0).
In England, the FA Cup quarter-finals were on the schedule. Chelsea FC, without Mamadou Sarr who remained on the bench, comfortably defeated Port Vale (7-0). However, West Ham United, with El Hadji Malick Diouf in the starting lineup, were eliminated by Leeds United (2-2, 2-4 on penalties).
In Spain, for the 30th matchday of La Liga, Rayo Vallecano, featuring Nobel Mendy and Pathé Ciss, defeated Elche CF (1-0). While Nobel Mendy remained on the bench, Pathé Ciss was not included in the matchday squad. Villarreal CF, with Pape Gueye, plays this Monday in Girona.
In Turkey, for the 28th matchday, Galatasaray, with Ismaïla Jakobs in their ranks, lost to Trabzonspor (2-1). The Senegalese full-back played the first half before being substituted at halftime. Samsunspor, with Chérif Ndiaye coming on as a substitute (85th minute), were held to a draw by Konyaspor (2-2).
In Italy, for the 31st matchday, Boulaye Dia's SS Lazio were held to a 1-1 draw by Abdoulaye Niakhaté Ndiaye's Parma. Dia, who came on in the 65th minute, was unable to make an impact, while the Parma defender remained on the bench.
In Germany, for the 28th matchday, Nicolas Jackson's Bayern Munich won in Freiburg (3-2), but the Senegalese striker was absent for this match.

Finally, in Saudi Arabia, with seven matchdays remaining in the championship, the all-Senegalese duel continues. League leaders Al Nassr (1st, 70 pts) comfortably defeated Al Najma FC (5-2), thanks in particular to a brace from Sadio Mané. Al Hilal (2nd, 65 pts), with Kalidou Koulibaly in the lineup, were held to a draw by Al Taawoun (2-2). Meanwhile, Al Ahli FC (3rd, 65 pts), with Édouard Mendy as captain, dominated Damac FC (3-0).
