Resignation within Awalé: Adama Ngom turns the page on politics

Awalé has recorded another resignation. In a letter addressed to the national steering delegate (DNP), Adama Ngom announced his immediate departure from all the functions he held within the political party led by Abdourahmane Diouf.

A committed activist since the beginning of the party, which he joined shortly after its creation in October 2021 and in the lead-up to the July 2022 legislative elections, Adama Ngom explains that he made this decision after "a long period of reflection" on the meaning of his political commitment.

In his correspondence, the former first communal delegate of Sandiara refers to a "carefully considered" decision, despite the "rootedness" he had within the party and the human relationships forged over the years.

Looking back on his activist career, he recalls having supported the various political dynamics led by Awalé, from the AAR Senegal coalition (Alternative for a Breaking Assembly) in 2022 to the CDP (Diomaye-President coalition) in 2024.

Adama Ngom also paid a heartfelt tribute to the party leader, Abdourahmane Diouf, whom he described as "a man brimming with human qualities" and possessing "unparalleled moral and intellectual integrity." He stated that he had learned a great deal from him and expressed his "lifelong respect" for him.

The former politician, however, justifies his withdrawal by citing "personal reasons." He announces his intention to temporarily suspend all political activity in order to devote more time to his work and family.

In this letter dated May 13, 2026, Adama Ngom states that he is leaving the party "without rancor or resentment," considering that "everything has an end."

Before his resignation, he held the positions of first municipal delegate of Sandiara, former departmental secretary general of Mbour and former member of the national delegation to the cadres of Awalé.

Abdourahmane tu dois revoir ton comportement. Ton niveau d'étude et ta brillante carriere professionnelle devraient te permettre de te prononcer sur des debats responsables pertinents techniques. Mais tu te rabaisses au bas des paquerettes et tu te ridiculises tous les jours. Mimi touré n'a pkus aucune considération dans ce pays. Si tu veux la suivre dans cette trajectoire d'indignité tu n'auras plus aucun militant responsable. Tu es libre de soutenir Diomaye mais un intellectuel de ta trempe ne doit pas etre un flagorneur.

Au lieu de débats d'idées pour nourrir cette jeunesse consciente et très éveillée, force est de constater un troubadour , un chanteur de louanges , un flatteur d'une autre personne en quête d'identité et de légitimité populaire .

Niveau d’études et brillante carrière dites-vous ? Le Sénégal est un pays où on n’a pas de rigueur et où on répète ce qu’on entend. Abdourahmane DIOUF a été récemment recruté comme assistant stagiaire à 50 ans passés à l’université virtuelle du Sénégal
