Abdoulaye Fall (FSF) : « On ne peut pas retirer (la CAN) au Sénégal»
The appeals committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ruled that the Senegalese national team forfeited the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final. In accordance with Article 84 of the regulations, the match was validated with a score of 3-0 in favor of the Moroccan national team.
This decision immediately sparked a strong reaction from the Senegalese Football Federation. In a press conference, its president, Abdoulaye Fall, denounced a series of irregularities that had marred the organization of the final.
According to him, security lapses were observed. The players' accommodation conditions were questionable. An attempt to impose a training site was noted. Ticket sales were restricted to just 24 hours before the match, limiting access for Senegalese supporters.
Added to this are refereeing controversies, with a late appointment of the referee despite a challenge and contentious decisions, including a disallowed goal and a disputed penalty.
Despite this difficult context, Senegal had won 1-0 on the field and had officially received the trophy and medals at the end of the match.
“Senegal cannot lose this match by default and this title cannot be taken away from them. The country will stand strong and defend this victory. We have instructed our lawyers to pursue this case before the CAS,” added Abdoulaye Fall.
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) denounces the decision as unjust and the procedure as marred by irregularities. The federation also highlights a worrying context, notably the imprisonment of Senegalese supporters.
The federation finally reaffirms its determination to use all legal means to assert Senegal's rights and defend the interests of national football.
