Affaire Knysna : Franck Ribéry réagit aux révélations de Raymond Domenech dans le documentaire Netflix
Sixteen years after the Knysna scandal during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, tensions surrounding the episode continue to resurface. Implicated by Raymond Domenech in the Netflix documentary about the affair, Franck Ribéry responded Wednesday evening on social media, promising to reveal "the real story" later.
In the documentary titled "The Bus, the Blues on Strike," the former coach of the French national team revisits the behind-the-scenes events of the crisis that shook the French team during the South African World Cup. Raymond Domenech suggests, in particular, that Franck Ribéry was the source of the leaks concerning the altercation between Nicolas Anelka and the French coaching staff after the defeat against Mexico (0-2).
According to Domenech, the former Bayern Munich winger mentioned the argument to journalists at halftime of the match. A version of events that Ribéry clearly did not appreciate.
On his social media, the former French international (81 caps, 16 goals) reacted ironically: "Mama Mia Domenech, I love you very much, just, I'm saving the real story for later," accompanied by emojis representing a camera and a film clapboard.
The documentary revisits one of the most significant and controversial episodes in the history of Les Bleus: the exclusion of Nicolas Anelka after his alleged insults towards Raymond Domenech, followed by the famous players' strike in Knysna, when the French internationals remained in their bus during a training session.
Raymond Domenech also shares excerpts from his personal diary from that time, with sometimes very harsh comments towards several members of the French team.
