CAF : Patrice Motsepe attendu à Dakar, ce mercredi
The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, is expected in Dakar on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, according to journalist and president of the National Association of Sports Press (ANPS), Abdoulaye Thiam on X, this Monday, April 6.
Also president of the International Sports Press Association, he announced that the South African will meet with the head of state Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and the president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Abdoulaye Fall.
It was from CAF headquarters in Cairo that Motsepe revealed the details of this trip. During a press conference held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, following an executive committee meeting that was extended due to "very important issues," the head of African football confirmed to journalists, in the presence of the FIFA Secretary General, his intention to travel to Senegal soon.
“I will be travelling to Senegal in the coming weeks to meet with football leaders and the government. We are deeply committed to working together, cooperating and helping to develop and grow football in Senegal,” he said.
This visit comes at a tense time. The final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, between Senegal and Morocco (1-0), continues to be the subject of proceedings before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the outcome of which is still pending.
