After 11 days of competition, the first sanctions have just been imposed for the 2024 CHAN. The Disciplinary Council of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) met to rule on several cases relating to the ongoing TotalEnergies African Nations Championship ("CHAN") PAMOJA 2024. Zambia, Kenya, and Morocco are among the sanctioned countries.

In a statement, the Disciplinary Board criticized the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) for violating CAF media regulations during the mandatory press conference before its match against the Democratic Republic of Congo. Zambia was found guilty of failing to present its coach and fined US$5,000.

‎Regarding Kenya, the tournament's co-host, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) was singled out for multiple security breaches during the match against Morocco, played at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani. Kenya was fined US$50,000 and warned that repeated failure to comply with security requirements could result in the relocation of its national team matches to another stadium. CAF also recommended strengthening security arrangements by mobilizing sufficient personnel in and around the venue, as well as respecting road closures on match days.

Morocco, the third nation to be sanctioned, was found guilty of inappropriate behavior by some of its players during the match against Kenya. The Disciplinary Board fined it $5,000, of which $2,500 was suspended, on the condition that no similar offenses are committed before the end of the tournament.

The press release states that all fines must be paid within 60 days of notification of the decisions.
