Congo-Brazzaville : Claude Le Roy de retour sur le banc, Omar Daf dans son staff
Congo-Brazzaville is preparing to entrust the reins of its national team to a well-known figure in African football. According to L'Équipe, Claude Le Roy (78 years old) is expected to be appointed manager of the Red Devils soon, with the primary objective of qualifying the team for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Having been free of any commitment for several years, the French coach would thus make his return to the head of a national team, in a context where Congo seeks to return to major continental competitions.
To assist him in this mission, Le Roy will be able to count on Omar Daf, who will join the technical staff as an assistant. Having previously coached Sochaux and Amiens, the former Senegalese international brings his top-level experience to a team in rebuilding mode.
The Red Devils are in Group G of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, alongside Cameroon, Comoros, and Namibia. It's a tough group, and Congo hopes to secure qualification after a long absence from the finals since 2015.
