Équipe nationale : Mamadou Sarr, au nom du père
Like father, like son. Mamadou Sarr, son of former Senegalese international Pape Birahim Sarr, will indeed represent Senegal. The Racing Club de Strasbourg defender, who played for France's youth teams, has been called up by national team coach Pape Bouna Thiaw.

Trained at Olympique Lyonnais, Mamadou Sarr joined Racing Club de Strasbourg in August 2024, before being transferred to Chelsea for €20 million and then loaned back to Strasbourg. Having steadily improved over the last three years, the powerful central defender (1.94 m; 72 kg) seems poised to follow in the footsteps of his father, a key player in the 2002 generation, who competed in both the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup in the same year.

In the process of rejuvenating the national team, his arrival is excellent news for the future of the Lions. However, despite his undeniable qualities, Mamadou Sarr (20 years old) will have to fight hard to hope to compete with the Kalidou Koulibaly – Moussa Niakhaté duo, currently considered one of the strongest on the continent.
