National U17 Team: Pape Ibrahima Faye leaves and criticizes the FSF's silence

Équipe nationale U17 : Pape Ibrahima Faye s’en va et fustige le silence de la FSF

Senegal's U17 coach, Pape Ibrahima Faye, has announced his departure, denouncing a lack of communication from the Senegalese Football Federation, from which he says he has received no official notification.

Pape Ibrahima Faye will no longer be in charge of Senegal's U17 national team. While awaiting an official announcement from the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), the coach himself has confirmed his departure.

And so ends the adventure between the Kaolack-born coach and the Young Lions. Having arrived two years ago, he led the team to the final stages of the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup. Respectable performances, but without managing to equal the achievement of his predecessor, Serigne Saliou Dia, crowned African champion in 2023. In both competitions, the Senegalese national team was eliminated in the second round.

Interviewed by Galaxy TV on the sidelines of the Senegalese Cup quarter-final between Teungueth FC and Diambars (1-2), played Thursday at the Ngalandou Diouf stadium, "PIF" officially confirmed his situation. "I was on the bench during the last AFCON and the World Cup, but today, I can say that I am no longer the coach of the U17 team," he declared.

The coach made no secret of his incomprehension regarding the FSF's attitude, pointing to a serious lack of communication. "I learned through the press and social media that I had been dismissed, like everyone else. No one contacted me. There was also no information concerning preparations for the next AFCON, scheduled for May 13 to June 2, 2026, in Morocco. So, you could say I'm no longer in my position," he lamented.

This situation illustrates, once again, the ambiguity surrounding the management of certain national teams, with several technical staffs finding themselves in uncertainty due to a lack of clear communication from the governing body of Senegalese football.

Lui en aucun cas,il devait partir parce que tout simplement, il n'a pas réussi sa mission. Mais attention, est-ce que Lamine Sanè est l'homme de la situation, je doute de cela. Je dis pas que Lamine Sanè n'est pas un bon entraîneur mais la sélection U17 est trop complexe, il faut connaître le milieu pour pouvoir épuisé les meilleurs éléments sur tout l'étendue du territoire senegalais. La sélection U17 a beaucoup plus de choix a faire que n'importe quelle sélection dans le pays quelque soit la catégorie. La sélection U17 a un vivier très large presque inépuisable et il faut surtout sélectionner les meilleurs, donc pour que Lamine Sanè réussi, il lui faut un bon entourage, des gens qui maîtrisent le milieu, je sais qu'il a déjà fréquenté quelques stages de la petite catégorie, mais cela ne absolument rien dire. Pourquoi pas faire du coach U15 son adjoint 🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳

PIF ses choiiix en .U17 sont médiocres. Je ne sais pas si on lui a imposé certains qui n-abba9ent pas leir place ou si c'est son.poropre choix. Mais quand on.va compétition, on .prenne les meilleurs et.lui pour des raisons que j'ignore a laissé ses stars tomber!!

Bon courage Pape ! Nous avons connu PIF à Kaolack, il fut un excellent joueur, avec une silhouette et rapidité de jean TIGANA. Mais Pape, il fallait attendre la notification de la Fédération Sénégalaise Football. Bonne chance pour la suite !
