Habib Bèye : «Être sélectionneur du Sénégal ? Je dis oui, bien sûr»
Habib Bèye believes in Pape Thiaw. The Stade Rennais coach thinks he is capable of leading Senegal to its second Africa Cup of Nations title. "He is the right man for the job," the 48-year-old coach declared in an interview published this Friday in L'Observateur.
But despite this faith in his former teammate on the national team, the retired defender would like to see himself in his place.
“I’m often asked the question: ‘Would you like to be the coach of Senegal one day?’ I say yes, of course, it’s a dream,” he confesses. “But it’s a dream that’s measured today in terms of pressure. It’s enormous pressure. You have to be ready for it.”
Is Bèye ready? The interview with L'Observateur doesn't provide a definitive answer. But one thing is certain: if he were to become the Lions' coach, his dual nationality would be more of an asset than a liability.
He confesses: "The best thing that ever happened to me in my life was being part of the Senegalese national team. It allowed me to reconnect with my family, my country of origin, since I was born in France, and with my father's culture, but also with the culture he instilled in me through his upbringing and that of my mother. And I still use that richness in my coaching career today."

Cette charade doit cesser. Il faut refuser ces situations. On pourrait penser que c'est des instances isolées mais bientôt les clubs refuseront de libérer les joueurs et l'Afrique ne pourra pas se plaindre.
