The tension stemmed from the incident that led to Nice's late equalizer. Abdelli, who came on in the 81st minute, lost possession a few minutes later, failing to make the necessary effort to win it back. This resulted in a foul in the penalty area and a penalty converted by Nice in the 88th minute.
Habib Beye did not appreciate this attitude at all. The Marseille coach reportedly confronted his player firmly in the locker room, pointing out his lack of involvement in this decisive play. But Abdelli's reaction was swift.
