Real Madrid: Mbappé de retour face à Getafe, confirme Xabi Alonso
Real Madrid's French striker Kylian Mbappé, who left the French national team with a right ankle injury, will return to action on Sunday in La Liga against Getafe, his coach Xabi Alonso confirmed on Saturday.
"Mbappé? His ankle is fine, he'll be in the squad so he'll be able to play," the Madrid coach said at a press conference.
"All the players who went to the national team have returned safely, except for Dean (Huijsen), who was unable to train yesterday or today," he added on the eve of the derby against Getafe, an opponent who is "always very demanding."
Asked about the league match being relocated to the United States between Villarreal and FC Barcelona, Xabi Alonso reiterated that the Spanish giants were "against" this initiative which "distorts the competition", denouncing the fact that other clubs had not been consulted.
The Basque coach also expressed his support for the actions announced by the Spanish players' union (AFE) this weekend on La Liga pitches to protest against what would be the first official La Liga match played abroad.
Real Madrid (1st, 21 points) travel to their modest neighbors Getafe (11th, 11 points) on Sunday (9 p.m.) to maintain their lead in the Spanish championship, one week before the Clasico against FC Barcelona (2nd, 19 points).
