Insolite : Des députés exigent des vacances tranquilles, sans perturbations
Members of parliament are clearly fed up with having their recess disrupted. After being summoned to two extraordinary sessions, several elected representatives informed the President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, that they no longer wanted their rest interrupted by further plenary sessions.
The 2024-2025 single ordinary session closed on June 30. The first extraordinary session opened on Monday, August 18, to examine bills on access to information, whistleblower protection, the National Office for the Fight against Fraud and Corruption (OFNAC), and asset declarations.
Just yesterday, they were called to examine draft laws relating to the General Tax Code, the Investment Code and the amended fee for access to or use of the public telecommunications network (RUTEL).
"We need a vacation. We don't want to be disturbed anymore," said a member of the Pastef parliamentary group at the end of the vote. She will be followed by other colleagues.
But El Malick Ndiaye was not to be softened. With a mischievous smile, he replied: "You want to make citizens pay taxes, right? Well, we're going to tax your vacations too!" Enough to provoke peals of laughter in the chamber.
In the meantime, the chamber is expected to remain silent for a while. The deputies, for their part, intend to enjoy their vacation. This time without any disturbance.

S'ils étaient des députés du peuple on les aurait vu près des populations sinistrées des inondations.
